Midjourney didn’t grab me right away. Honestly, it didn’t!
Midjourney didn’t grab me right away. Honestly, it didn’t! The first AI-generated images of people looked terrible and didn’t appeal to my aesthetic sense at all. Then, in late summer 2022, I saw a photo of a bird on Facebook, posted by a photographer friend. *"Oh Micha,"* I thought, *"have you become an ornithologist now?"* Below the image, the caption read: *"Crazy. Generated with Midjourney."* From that moment, I was hooked! I signed up the very same day, and ever since, I’ve been addicted (yes, in the sense of addiction, not just searching) to this tool. The ability to turn my creativity into an image with just a text prompt still fascinates me today. Since then, I have immersed myself in the world of AI-generated imagery—and, of course, how to enhance and animate these images. I create portraits that can talk, images that subtly move, and even short video trailers. I have generated my own digital twin and trained my own Flux Image Model. My passion for this field and my early adoption of Midjourney have made me a widely recognized expert in AI-generated imagery in Germany. I give talks at events and run workshops for well-known companies and agencies. As a digital creator, I also share my Midjourney art on [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/ai_nouvelle_vague/). My background is in graphic and web design, which has served me well in this space. I have an extensive knowledge of artists, art movements, fashion designers, photographers, architects, styles, and historical periods. Combined with a keen eye for color and composition, I create unique visual worlds. This deep expertise influences my prompting techniques, which, of course, my workshop participants also benefit from. I am thrilled to bring my experience to Vor der Welle AI, where I lead engaging and visually compelling workshops and help companies develop AI-driven visual strategies. The opportunities in AI-generated image and video creation are vast, from flexibility and cost savings to the ability to generate custom visuals in minutes, unlike traditional stock images. With the right automation, we can already generate entire marketing campaigns, both text and visuals, within hours. However, human expertise remains essential—AI-generated results must be reviewed and refined. AI is a co-creator, not a replacement. The real power comes when we work together. The key challenge is helping people see these advancements as an opportunity, not a threat to their jobs. That’s why education and strategic AI implementation are crucial—for everyone. Because this mission is so close to my heart, I co-founded the Cologne-based AI association [GMKI](https://gmki.org/) – Together with Artificial Intelligence in October 2023. As Vice Chair, I volunteer in the areas of AI in education and AI-driven business transformation. We also host prompt challenges and AI information evenings to engage and educate the community.
